Client cases Asito
Boldness, insight, entrepreneurship and perseverance: thanks to these characteristics, Asito has become a top player in facility services since its founding in 1952. Asito is the facilities service provider with the best coverage in the Netherlands, with more than 90 locations and more than 12,000 qualified staff. Asito is the first cleaning company to become 100% climate neutral, and so one of the leaders in the fight against climate change.
Asito would like to limit the impact of is operations on people, the environment and society.
In order to realize its green ambitions, Asito has taken various steps towards becoming a climate neutral business. To do so, they have made use of some of our services: calculating a CO2 footprint, becoming Climate Neutral Guaranteed and investing in our climate projects.
Asito has 90 locations in 10 regions and is headquartered in Almelo. All of the locations were included in the calculation of the CO2 footprint. The CO2 footprint was calculated using Climate Neutral Group’s CO2 calculator, according to the GHG protocol. Asito has its carbon footprint calculated twice annually in order to monitor the progress of reduction and to always have the latest footprint figures.
Asito has given itself the goal of reducing its CO2 emissions by 4% every year. They do this by introducing various measures and activities.
Asito’s CO2 footprint showed that its fleet has the largest impact on the climate. To reduce the fleet’s emissions, they sought the optimal form of transport on the basis of CO2 emissions. Asito purchased CO2 friendly cars for its employees and reduced the total number of kilometres travelled by improving logistics. They also encourage more energy efficient driving behaviour and monitor it.
Asito only uses materials that have been sustainably produced (ones that use less energy, less packaging and are recyclable) and ensures that waste is disposed of in a responsible way. They also scan their properties for opportunities for energy savings.
Waste and recycling
Machines and materials are reused as much as possible. Materials that are returned are always used first. These materials are centrally collected and cleaned, repaired and filled up, which means they can be reused.
Asito’s emissions cannot be fully reduced with the above measures. The remaining CO2 emissions are offset by investing in sustainable energy projects that meet the Gold Standard. Asito has chosen the Paradigm Project: wood stoves in Kenya. In addition to the benefits for the climate, this project also contributes to helping the local people.
“Asito’s policy focuses on CO2 reduction. Offsetting is a logical final step. Climate Neutral Guaranteed is consistent with this.”
