Link to Offsetting through your travel agent
Reducing the climate impact of your business air travel is a great step that can contribute substantially to reducing your carbon footprint. Climate neutral business is becoming increasingly important for organizations to strive for. Is your organization one of them? Climate Neutral Group’s GreenSeat makes it easy to fly climate neutral. You can choose whether you would like to offset for your air travel directly via Climate Neutral Group or via your business travel agent. You can fly carbon neutral within Europe for the price of a cup of coffee.
Fly 100% Climate Neutral?
If your organization cannot avoid flying, offsetting offers an action route. After reducing the climate impact of your business travel, you can offset the remaining emissions by investing in one of our climate projects. Offsetting is the only way to completely limit your CO2 emissions. By offsetting and flying 100% climate neutral, you neutralize your impact on the climate and give people in countries such as Cambodia, Uganda and Kenya access to clean energy and a better standard of living. You can choose the project that best fits your organization from among our many projects.
How do we work?
Climate Neutral Group looks at what is the most efficient way for you to fly climate neutral. There are two possibilities:
- Via your travel agent
If you work with a travel agent who is a CNG partner, you can choose to automatically fly climate neutral through the agency. Carbon emissions are calculated per flight when you book and the costs presented on the ticket invoice. The confirmation shows the tonnage of the flight and the carbon offsetting via a GreenSeat. The travel agent’s booking system is connected to the Climate Neutral Group calculator. You can find an overview of all the travel agents who can quickly and easily organize this for you on our site.
- Directly via Climate Neutral Group
When you fly climate neutral via the Climate Neutral Group, you give us a quarterly or yearly list of your flight data, which you can request from your travel agent. This data is run through our calculator to give the total carbon emissions. You receive the results, and the costs are debited. In both cases, the costs of the offsetting are determined by the climate project that you have chosen. In practice, you can travel climate neutral starting from 1-2% of the ticket price.
What is the result?
You offset the emissions that remain after your reduction measures via Climate Neutral Group’s climate projects. This means that you can fly 100% climate neutral, a nice result that you can share with your stakeholders. Climate Neutral Group can use various methods to show what your contribution has meant. You receive an annual impact report that shows what your contribution has achieved in concrete terms and what has been done within the project.
GreenFlight – the next step!
Climate Neutral Group is using a new and unique calculation method for TravelScan, called GreenFlight. It is based on detailed worldwide flight data at the individual flight number level. The airline, the type of aircraft and the occupancy rates are all taken into account. This makes it possible to calculate the emissions of a specific trip more precisely than ever. The data is collected real time, so the database is always up-to-date. This calculation method is unique worldwide; Climate Neutral Group is the only organization that offers it. Calculation has never been so detailed and precise. The TravelScan and the analysis and the implementation of the measures you determine with our TravelCoach, ensure that you make the most sustainable choices for each flight. GreenFlight is the next step, and can replace GreenSeat if you wish. This advanced calculator is linked to the travel agent’s booking system and shows the tonnage of a specific flight number. This means that you can choose the flight not only on the basis of the best price and flight time, but also on the basis of the lowest CO2 emissions. Offsetting of the remaining emissions is still the last step, but what you have to offset may be reduced. This service will be available in the beginning of 2016.
”We try to limit our flying as much as possible. We offset the CO2 emissions from flights that we still need to take by investing in the Gold Standard project: efficient cookstoves in Kenya. It included reducing CO2 emissions, and improves the health by using of the cookstove. The new cookstoves are cleaner than the conventional cooking on an open fire, which causes four million deadly lung disorders each year. PGGM is the investment manager for the Health and Welfare pension fund, so this was a very logical choice for us. Health and sustainability are core values, so we only fly on GreenSeats!”
